A video was posted by The Wall Street Journal today with the headline: "Islamic State Video Shows Beheading Of U.S Journalist Steven Sotloff." This really gave me chills. It's been confirmed as authentic, but what really made me feel sick was this: they played a fucking advertisement for Dutch Bank at the start. Now I know, a business needs to drive traffic and peddle, but when a human life is turned into nothing but a commodity for your business... The fact this next sentence exists, to me, proves just how bad it is: "the Wall Street policy is to NOT show execution videos." I should fucking hope not. That sentence was spoken at the start. How fucking moral of you. Then they narrated it ever-so dramatically, and actually took a freeze frame of the saddest moment on poor Steven's face before his head was chopped off. They slowly zoomed in on his eyes. Wall Street won't show a beheading, they're too moral, but they'll dramatize the fuck out of it for you! Who's job was it to do that? I hope he gets paid enough to drink himself to sleep because I couldn't knowing I'd did that. Think about that, to make this man's death MORE ENTERTAINING AND DRAMATIC- as if it weren't dramatic enough. When David Cameron was asked for a quote, he said that Mr. Sotloff's death was "a despicable and brutal murder." No shit, David. Can you get any more generic? It's not a game of football you're commenting on here! If he had any balls he should be screaming: WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?! HAS THE WORLD LOST IT'S COLLECTIVE FUCKING MIND?! I was fuming when I read it, pacing the room, shaking... I was so angry, and then the anger subsided and gave way to disappointment. Not just about that and how it was handled, but what it represented in the human race. And isn't disappointment so much worse than anger? Remember when you were a kid and you did something shitty and your parents would say: I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. Well, I stopped being angry a long time ago. So don't worry, I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed.
